Airdrie
Airdrie is a city in Alberta, Canada located just minutes north of the city of Calgary along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, surrounded by the MD of Rocky View County. Recent annexation of land by Airdrie to the south, coupled with recent expansion of Calgary’s city limits, have placed the two cities' boundaries only a few kilometers of each other.
Airdrie was first established as a railway village in 1889 and named for Airdrie, Scotland. Only railway buildings existed until 1901 when the first farmhouse and barn were built, followed by a post office and store in the same year. Today Airdrie offers a wide range of housing options available in both new and established neighborhoods.
The City of Airdrie is one of the fastest growing communities in Canada with a population of almost 60,000 people. Airdrie offers a small town lifestyle with big city amenities, which is very enticing for many.
